🧠 Men with ADHD: When His Mind Won’t Rest

Loving a Son Whose Mind Runs at Full Throttle

There are moments I can see it happening — his thoughts racing faster than his words can keep up.
A spark of brilliance mixed with restlessness.
A deep well of creativity sitting right next to frustration.

I used to call it overthinking. But now I know better.

My son lives with ADHD.
And as his mother, I’ve learned how that same drive that makes him excel can also exhaust him. The highs and lows come fast — and as a parent, you feel them too.

I’ve often wondered where he gets it from. I don’t have ADHD, but I see some of the same tendencies in myself — the perfectionism, the need to get everything just right, the endless internal hum that won’t quiet down.

But here’s what God has shown me: the goal isn’t to control the chaos — it’s to find peace inside it.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

That verse used to frustrate me. How can you “be still” when your mind or life never slows down?
But over time, I realized it’s not about silence — it’s about surrender.

When the mind races, God doesn’t shout to quiet it — He whispers to remind us He’s still in control.

If you love someone with ADHD — a son, a husband, or a friend — remember: they’re not broken. They’re beautifully wired for a different rhythm. Sometimes that rhythm just needs grace, understanding, and space to breathe.

That’s what inspired my book,
Men with ADHD: Step-by-Step Strategies to Master Focus, Boost Productivity, and Attain Relationship Success
a guide written to help men (and the families who love them) turn mental chaos into clarity and frustration into faith-filled growth.
